2. Gold Luster Dust:

Mix gold luster dust with clear alcohol. Such as vodka or rum, to the thickness of paint. Try alcohol-based flavor extracts instead of alcoholic spirits. Alcohol will not affect the flavor of the frosting and is necessary because it transforms the luster dust to a paint consistency. But it also dries fast enough so that it won’t make the glaze runny. Start with three to four drops of alcohol for every 1/2 teaspoon of luster dust. Refresh the drink in the luster dust to maintain the paint consistency as the alcohol evaporates.
